![]() The mechanic that makes this and the basegame lack is having to run FAR TOO OFTEN. To my suprise, it wasnt nearly as fun as the base game. After beating the base game, I was so excited to jump in and beat whistleblower. ![]() It is an interesting plotline, however, I feel the game falls way way short. Oh well.ġh 57m PlayedMeh, the game looks at the story of the man that leaked the information and sent the email to the main character of the base game. Instead, it seems contemptuous to the player to make them shell out extra money for what is essentially another part of the same story that should have been included in the first place. Why is it DLC? Wouldn't it have been ten-times better had it been edited into the base game? It would have gone a long way to rectifying that lack of variety. Even though "Whistleblower" went that little bit extra, I still hesitantly recommend it. The entire climactic sequence with him was grislier & more atmospherically-effective than anything the original threw at you. Special mention also needs to go to the DLC's best new villain: a sad, lonely guy who just really, REALLY wants to be loved. It had a gripping playable prologue in the "Half-Life" vein, and an excellent outdoor area with some non-linear exploration & first-person platforming thrown in for variety (I actually like first-person platforming, so there). Taking place before, during, and after the events of the first game, you play a different character from a different perspective of the asylum (trying to keep things spoiler-free), and by going this route it actually helps to explain much of what happened off-screen in the original without the need for mindless exposition in the form of collectables. But the plot is miles-ahead of the original. The mechanics are the same - nothing's changed: you're still going to be running away & hiding from rubber-banding enemies while you flip switches & film everything with a grainy night-vision camcorder with the shoddiest battery life ever. But not sadly, because this DLC is, incredulously, better than the main game. Sadly, though, I did feel I had to play the DLC too, since I paid for it. Boring, repetitive gameplay loop with a nonsensical plot and zero effective scares. ![]() Honestly, I probably should have just waited, since the original went on sale solo recently for two-bucks: an even better deal, if you take into account that Outlast was, for myself, a disappointing experience. 2h PlayedI bought the original "Outlast" as a bundle with this DLC, since at the time it was the cheapest option. The service also includes a tire-pressure check and inflation (or deflation) to put you back on the road with properly inflated tires. My M1 Max 16" is almost always in clamshell mode connected to 2 monitors at my desk. Hope you get it resolved.I just found out AlDente Pro is included with my Setapp subscription, so I decided to try it. Make sure coconutBattery is reporting good capacity on your battery.īout all I can think of. When I get a new device, I end up using it 3-4 hours more a day than usual - this sometime distorts my "battery life" expectations. ![]() What can you do if you're just using native apps? It takes a few days for my 100+ GB photos library to sync. I have to gauge my own "x hours" against my own usage otherwise it isn't comparing like usage. A lot of these are heavily biased and due to people liking their device. I usually ignore the "I get X hours" screen on time. Who knows, it could be a defective unit as well - especially if it's hot and high CPU usage. That M1 should be sipping battery with native apps with almost no usage. If you're using just native apps and only getting 6 hours - I'd start looking at activity monitor and figuring out what's using the CPU. User B pops out iBooks and reads on a black background with brightness at 20% with an occasional Youtube video with headphones saying they get 12+ hours of battery life. For example: User A will game heavily on their phone at 100% brightness while streaming music or YouTube saying they only get 6 hours of screen on time. Any attempt at prolonging the life is seen as way too inconvenient.Įveryone uses their computer differently. Most people see a battery as a disposable item that is meant to be used. I'm attaching Coconut Battery readouts for my iPad Pro and MacBook to see what are more realistic results - or am I just jinxed?Ĭoconut Battery does work on the M1 MaxBook Pro in its latest update, BTW. I can't understand how the poster who said his MacBook has only about 15 cycles on the battery after years of usage. And I don't even know how long my 12" MacBook would last on batteries compared to when it was new because I've unplugged it so seldom. The iPad Pro now has a battery life of about four hours. (When I send it in again, I'm going to take multiple photos with a ruler resting on it first!) I had to escalate that to a senior level in order to get it back without the extra $600 charge. Apart from the inconvenience of being without it, Apple claimed the iPad was bent (it wasn't and isn't) and wanted $599 to fix that in addition to the battery replacement. The last time my iPad Pro went to Apple for a battery replacement was only a year and a half ago. And if battery replacement could still be done by the user. Honeslly I'd have more of a "use it up and throw it away" mentality if I didn't have so many devices and didn't like to keep them for a long time. Thanks for the good comments! I've been accused of obsessing over battery life, but I don't think that's quite fair (look at electric car owners if you want battery life obsession). Most of my Apple devices are used 90-100% and after several years they do pretty well on the capacity vs design capacity scale. This is really the first year I've ever been able to do the 40-75% (or 40-85%) because I'm at home all the time. As this post (in this thread) states: #14 Of course you get less usage out of your battery that you paid for - but it does extend the life significantly. I've read Buchmann's book several times and love his website: īattery University clearly states batteries will last longer when used 40-75%. Hopefully something like this comes out for the M1 soon!īatteries are a hobby of mine. Every now and then I'll set it to 100% for a day then back to 55-85% (Usually 70%+). I use AlDente on my 2020 MBP 13' to keep the battery around 85% since I use it as a desktop these days (virus).
